Its very matter-of-factly, there’s even a given logic behind it but the thing is as humans we don’t quite empathise with it making that realisation very depressing. Which also leads to how demons act where every other race can never reach an understanding with them as they’re basically beings who prey on others using whatever means necessary going so far as to deceive with words without understanding what they mean.

The way that the demon in the flashback knows that the people around her are wary, so she kills the mayor just to steal the daughter so that she could “pay back” the other daughter she ate just so that they’re “square”… I think it shows off how much and how little they know about humans.

ドイツ語を知っている私にとって、リュグナー（嘘つきの意味）という名前の男が、もしかしたら本当のことを言っていないかもしれないと誰も思わないというのは、とてもおかしなことだ。それぞれの名前が登場人物の特徴を表しているのは本当にクールだ。

その代わり、人間の価値観を理解することも理解されることもできない別の存在であり、共存するにはまったく相容れない存在なのだ。
With each memory, Himmel just becomes cooler and cooler. The idea that he’s insisting on having multiple statues built of the hero party for Frieren’s sake is just super heartwarming. I’m also a big fan of how demons are portrayed in this story. They’re not purely evil beings and not just humans with horns; instead, they are different beings that can’t understand or be understood through human values, making them wholly incompatible for coexistence.

声の演出も素晴らしい。
フリーレンの淡々とした口調とは対照的に、魔族たちは、特に回想で見た子供の魔族のように、その背後にある核心的な意味を理解せずに言葉を使っているように感じられる。
The voice direction is amazing as well. In contrast to Frieren’s very matter-of-factly deadpan-sounding tone, the demons themselves feel more ike they’re using words without actually understanding the core meaning behind it, especially with that child demon we see in the flashback.

ヒンメルは本当に天使だった。
何か言わなければならないことがあるたびに、彼が何を言うべきかわかっているのが怖いくらいだ。
私はヒンメルと、いつもフリーレンに貴重な印象を残す彼の貴重な行動が本当に大好きだ。
「将来一人にならないために」😭って。
ヒンメルは第1話では30分くらいしか登場しなかったのに。
また、このシリーズでの魔族の描かれ方が、冷徹で計算高く、人を欺く本性に忠実なのもいい。
Himmel was a damn angel. It’s almost scary how he knew what to say whenever something needed to be said. I really love Himmel and his precious action that always leaves a precious impression for Frieren. “To make sure you won’t be alone in the future” he said 😭. Man he is still growing on me as a character and he was alive for only like half minute in the episode 1. Also i like how demon potrayed in this series they’re true to their cold, calculative and deceiving nature.

また、このシリーズで描かれた魔族達は私のお気に入りのひとつなので、魔族達が参戦してくれてとても嬉しい。
とはいえ、リュグナーはドイツ語を話す人をだますことはできないだろうけど(笑)。
That final scene was so hype. Why can’t next week be now? Also very happy that the Demons have now entered the fray since this series’ protrayal of them if one of my favourites. That said Lügner certainly ain’t fooling anyone who speaks German lol. [](#indexsmugshrug)

また、フェルンとシュタルクの互いのやり取りを見てると、フェルンとシュタルクを推さないのは本当に難しいよ…。
Okay, this is probably one of the best portrayals of fantasy demons ever. Also IT’S REALLY HARD NOT TO SHIP FERN AND STARK WITH HOW THEIR DYNAMIC WITH EACH OTHER WORKS…
